Lynn is survived by her husband of 40 years, Kenneth Edward Mooney; two sons, Kevin Eric Mooney and wife, Theresa, Joshua Braxton Mooney and wife, Dawn; one daughter, Kristen Davis and husband, Greg; all of Midlothian, Virginia; eight grandchildren; sister, Lee Pearman and husband, Jack of Pulaski; mother-in-law, Eileen Mooney of Princeton, West Virginia and several nieces and nephews who she loved as if they were her own. </div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center">After graduating from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Lynn was an inspiration to thousands of students as an art teacher at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke County, and then at Manchester High School in Chesterfield County. </div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center">She retired after 33 years of teaching in 2002, and she and Ken decided to make Smith Mountain Lake their permanent home. She quickly fell in love with her new home and many new friends where she became active in The Smith Mountain Lake Women’s Club, Westlake Ladies Golf Association, The Chapter AI of PEO Sisterhood and the Smith Mountain Lake YMCA. She was a member of Trinity Ecumenical Parish Church. </div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Trinity Ecumenical Parish with Pastor Gary Scheidt officiating. The media has created sensational commentary that is only somewhat meaningful to SW Virginia. The negative media is rough on our business. Our buyers’ are very much affected by what they hear in the media. We’re dealing expectations of “low ball” offers and a new term that was introduced to me in 2007. "Bottom feeding" which means seeking out the “deal”. Those “deals” create multiple offer situations. My clients and I got caught in that several times in 2007. (No contingencies and cash often won)<br /><br /><br />Real estate is a local activity. Transfers are happening at Smith Mountain Lake with the number of sales in 2007 increasing over 2006. Median water front home price was $650K.<br /><br /><br />The difficulty is in getting the message out to the buyers who often several hours away. Since our market is elective, our sellers have not seen the prices go down significantly because there is no urgency for them to sell.
